Soils

Warm, sandy soils on the valley floor; calcareous chalk on the hillside slopes.

Viticulture & Winemaking

Sustainable.
Viña Herminia practices sustainable viticulture, minimising interventions in the vineyard. Grapes are harvested and brought promptly to the winery for careful handling. Fermentation is carried out in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve purity and freshness.
The young Tempranillo wine sees no oak, allowing vibrant fruit and aromatic expression. All other cuvées undergo barrel ageing in a mix of American, French, and occasional Eastern European oak, with barrels replaced every four years (compared to the Rioja norm of seven). The Crianza is released after 3–4 years of combined barrel and bottle ageing, while the Reserva matures for 5–6 years. Across the range, the focus is on balance, varietal character, and elegance, with meticulous attention at every stage of vinification.
