GARMON CONTINENTAL

With Garmón Continental, the Garcia family complete their trilogy of wines and wineries in the Duero Valley - Mauro (Tudela de Duero) and San Román (Toro) - with an exciting and unique family project based within the D.O. Ribera del Duero focusing on old vine - native clone - Tinto Fino.

The debut vintage, Garmón 2014, is sourced from a selection of vineyards aged between 30 and 80 years, grown on small plots in four municipalities in eastern areas of the Ribera del Duero: Baños, Tubilla and La Aguilera on the right bank of the river and Moradillo on the left bank. Initial production was just over 36 600 bottles and 500 magnums which will increase in future vintages to around 80 000 bottles.

With Garmón, the Garcia family is committed to ancestral viticulture with limited production, low vigour, old vineyards and native clones, located at the higher altitude and cooler riverside areas. Here, the poor clay-limestone soils along with a longer maturation cycle and later harvest have combined to produce a wine with super refined fruit expression, tension, controlled depth and maturity. A wine that truly reflects its terroir.
The new winery is located on the banks of the river on a 3 hectare estate in the village of Olivares, just 15 km from Mauro.
