Portfolio highlights

Dr Burklin Wolf

The Dr. Bürklin-Wolf Estate is the largest family owned winery in Germany with 110 hectares in the heart of the Pfalz wine region. The vineyards are located in Wachenheim, Forst, Deidesheim and Ruppertsberg including the monopol sites “Wachenheimer Rechbächel” and “Gaisböhl” in Ruppertsberg.

Disillusioned with confusing German wine laws that rated all vineyards equal and defined quality by sugar level, Bettina Bürklin-von Guradze made a seemingly radical decision in 1994 to focus on “terroir-driven”, dry, 100% riesling vineyard-designated bottlings. Her model is that of Burgundy, with 4 tiers of quality : basic “estate” wine, named “village” cuvées, premiers crus (which she calls “P.C.”) and grands crus (“G.C.”). After historical and geological research, she discovered that her own classification matched exactly the Royal Bavarian Vineyard Classification of 1828.

With the advantageous, mild climate of the Pfalz, the excellent soils of the Mittelhaardt, with their varying structures of basalt, sandstone and limestone, have always brought wines of the highest quality, although only the harmony between, terroir, vine and man brings truly great wines. This philosophy has motivated Bettina to undertake a total conversion to Biodynamic viticulture, completed in 2005, and Burklin-Wolf has thus become the first German member of the prestigious Biodyvin group.

La Fiorita

The nine-hectare La Fiorita Estate comprises four separate vineyards – La Fiorita, Pian Bossolino, Giardinello and Poggio al Sole. Since its foundation in the early nineties, La Fiorita has always sought to perfect the aromatic complexity and longevity of its Brunello to illustrate the magical harmony between these diverse terroirs, climate and Sangiovese grape.

Since her arrival in 2011, owner Natalie Oliveros has moved the Estate to an organic certification and sought to express her personality through each of her wines. Together with her business partner Louis Camilleri they acquired additional vineyards and built a modern state of the art cellar, the perfect combination of form and function, in which to vinify and age the very best Brunellos.
